Take Action at the Cancer Center

Thank you for your interest in becoming a research member of the University of Illinois Cancer Center.

The Cancer Center aims to stimulate cancer-related academic and clinical research across all schools and departments across multiple campuses. Cancer Center members are encouraged to conduct collaborative state-of-the-art cancer research, provide transdisciplinary team-based clinical care, and engage with the community to understand and address the needs of the population we serve.

Members provide meaningful contributions to the Cancer Center’s mission of reducing morbidity and mortality from cancer and addressing cancer disparities through scientific research, cancer screening and prevention, along with innovative cancer treatment. 

Members are organized into three Cancer Center research programs

  • Cancer Biology
  • Cancer Prevention and Control
  • Translational Oncology

Pilot Funding Information

Each year, the University of Illinois Cancer Center invites applications for the Cancer Center pilot projects program. The purpose of these pilot project grants is to stimulate new inter-programmatic research initiatives that will lead to competitive grant applications to external peer-reviewed funding organizations. 

Projects are awarded for a one-year period and requested budgets should not exceed $50,000.

Trainee Membership

The Trainee Membership program allows students, trainees, and fellows the opportunity to experience membership at the University of Illinois Cancer Center. Trainee members have access to special trainee awards, opportunities for paid employment at our summer education programs, and invitations to Cancer Center events.
