Puri Research Team on Rockford TV

University of Illinois Cancer Center member Neelu Puri, PhD, an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford, and her research team were recently featured on WTVO and FOX 39 because she has been nominated for the Nexstar Remarkable Women initiative.

Every March, Nextar Media Group, Inc. recognizes Women’s History Month by celebrating Remarkable Women in the area who have made a difference and left a tremendous impact on their communities. She is one of the Rockford finalists in the national program.

The nomination recognizes her extraordinary contributions to lung cancer research, promotion of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening for lung cancer, her remarkable dedication to shaping the next generation of scientists and her tireless efforts to educate the broader community about lung cancer, said an article in the UIC Health Sciences Campus-Rockford newsletter. Puri is part of the Cancer Center’s Translational Oncology Research Program.
