Free oral cancer screenings continue this Thursday and Friday, resulting from a partnership between the University of Illinois Cancer Center, UI Health Mile Square Health Center and the UIC College of Dentistry to offer the screenings during April’s Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month.

No appointment or insurance is required, and walk-ins are welcome. Screenings take about 10 to 15 minutes and can help detect early signs of cancer.

Screening Dates and Locations:

  • Thursday, April 17: Mile Square Health Center – Auburn Gresham, 839 W. 79th St., Chicago, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Friday, April 18: UIC College of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 801 S. Paulina St. Chicago, IL, 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Who should get screened?

  • Cigarette smokers/tobacco users
  • Heavy alcohol use
  • Age 50+
  • Painful or non-healing mass in the mouth
  • Lump or bump in the neck
