Shilpa Sant, PhD, is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Retzky College of Pharmacy at UIC. The major research interest at the Sant Lab is to engineer three-dimensional disease microenvironments and organoids by developing novel biomaterials- and micro/nanotechnology-based approaches. Their disease focus includes breast cancer and ectopic calcifications. Major goals of their work are to elucidate molecular mechanisms by which microenvironmental factors drive disease progression and to design therapeutic strategies to halt such progression at an early stage. She has been elected to the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows.
