Shannon MacLaughlan, MD, is Director of the University of Illinois Cancer Center Gynecologic Oncology Disease Team; Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Associate Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago; and a board-certified practicing gynecologic oncologist at UI Health. She joined UIC in 2019. Since joining the Cancer Center, she has been investigating the barriers to prevention and treatment of cervical cancer for the women of Chicago. As head of the Gynecologic Disease Team, she oversees clinical and translational research opportunities for women with gynecologic cancers. She mentors clinical investigators and aspiring gynecologic oncologists. She has been published in many areas of gynecologic oncology and graduate medical education, including biomarker research, survivorship and palliative care, physician wellness and leadership development.
