Dr. Rajyasree Emmadi is an Associate Prfoessor of Clinical Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her main research interest is in neoplasia, particularly solid tumors. Dr. Emmadi’s training and experience in molecular pathology is very useful as the field of genomic medicine is honing in on tumor molecular pathogenesis, pathway analysis and targeted therapy. She is a member of the department’s Genomic Medicine initiative.
Dr. Emmadi is also an active member of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) and of AMP’s Professional Relations Committee, seeking to interact with regulatory and governing agencies to explain the intricacies of the practice of molecular pathology and the practice of medicine in order to optimize the conditions of practice of this specialty.
She has also participated in the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) proceedings and co-authored two CLSI Guideline publications. Within the broad field of solid tumors, Dr. Emmadi has special interest in epithelial (breast, colon) and soft tissue malignancies (sarcomas). She is the pathology representative to the Breast Program Leadership Subcommittee, which successfully achieved NAPBC accreditation in 2016.
She is also involved in ongoing research projects to establish mouse xenografts of human breast cancers as well as transcriptomic analysis of breast tumors.
