Dr. Prabhakar is an Associate Dean for Technological Innovation and Training. He is also a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, as well as the Interim Director in the Center for Global Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. His laboratory has been working on autoimmune diseases for over 30 years.

His research is focused on cloning and characterizing autoantigens; and IG20 gene’s role in cancer. His laboratory has been working on autoimmune diseases for over 30 years. A major focus of their research effort has been to identify, clone and characterize autoantigens implicated in different autoimmune diseases.

More recently, their work is focused on understanding the role of dendritic cells in modulating immune responses with a particular emphasis on regulatory T cell induction and maintenance.
