Ibraheem Earns Winn CILA

University of Illinois Cancer Center member Abiola Ibraheem, MD, has received a Robert A. Winn Excellence in Clinical Trials: Clinical Investigator Leadership Award powered by Conquer Cancer’s EveryGrant® (Winn CILA-Onc), a three-year career and leadership development program.

The program is led by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), funded by the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation and it collaborates with members of the National Cancer Institute’s National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN).

Breast cancer is the focus of Ibraheem’s clinical care and research. A UI Health oncologist, she provides comprehensive care to patients, ensuring they can enroll in cutting-edge clinical trials with minimal toxicity. Her research interests focus on developing novel therapeutic agents for breast cancer and addressing breast cancer disparities nationally and globally.

She is a past recipient of the Robert A. Winn Excellence in Clinical Trials Career Development Award (Winn CDA), one of the criteria for the Winn CILA.

The latest Winn CILA recipients were announced in January by Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation. Ibraheem is 1 of 5 people in the award’s second group of recipients. The four others are physician-researchers from Vanderbilt University Medical Center and University of California campus in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
