Big 10 members discuss cancer research in Washington

John Stewart IV, MD, MBA, associate director for clinical research at the UI Cancer Center (far left), joined other Big 10 Cancer Research Consortium members during a visit to Capitol Hill to discuss health care issues with lawmakers. “Advocacy is extremely important as we look to grow our Cancer Center,” Stewart said. “Forming alliances with congressional members and their staff will help us navigate our path to NCI designation. We must leverage our support on Capitol Hill to garner resources for our patients, and the personal touch with members of Congress is very important as we begin to leverage their power to advance the case for cancer research.
