The Conquer Cancer Grants & Awards Program offers a comprehensive portfolio of funding opportunities for every career stage. Conquer Cancer supports the brightest minds in cancer research in every aspect of oncology, from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship.

Trainees and Early Career

Young Investigator Award (YIA)

The YIA provides research funding to promising physicians to support the transition from final years of training to faculty appointment and to encourage and promote quality research in clinical oncology. Applications in all areas of cancer research are accepted from U.S. and international applicants, and there is dedicated funding for disease sites and topics. Applications are due September 21, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

Global Oncology Young Investigator Award (GO YIA)

The GO YIA is a one-year grant that provides research funding to early-career investigators to encourage and promote quality research in global oncology and to develop the next generation of researchers to address global health needs. Letters of Intent are due September 21, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).


Early Career

Career Development Award (CDA)

The CDA provides research funding to clinical investigators, who have received their initial faculty appointment, as they work to establish an independent clinical cancer research program. This is a mentored award and the research project is conducted under the guidance of a scientific mentor. Applications are due October 19, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

CDA for Diversity and Inclusion in Breast Cancer Research–Applications are due March 14, 2024, by 11:59 PM (ET).


Mid Career

Advanced Clinical Research Award (ACRA) for Diversity and Inclusion in Breast Cancer Research

The ACRA is designed with the primary goal of increasing diversity in the oncology workforce and cancer research. Awards will be given to mid-career investigators who are members of racial and/or ethnic groups traditionally excluded in academic medicine and biomedical research, and who wish to conduct original breast cancer research not currently funded. Letters of Intent are due November 16, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

ASCO Special Awards

ASCO presents a variety of Special Awards to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to ASCO, the practice of clinical oncology, and people with cancer, as well as those whose work has had a significant impact on public awareness about cancer, its causes, cures, and treatment. Nominations are due September 30, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

Women Who Conquer Cancer (WWCC) Mentorship Awards

The WWCC Mentorship Award recognizes extraordinary women leaders in oncology and role models who have excelled as a mentor and have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the professional development of women colleagues as clinicians, educators, and researchers in oncology. Nominations are due December 15, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).


Funding Opportunities Powered by EveryGrant®

Team Science Grant in Medulloblastoma

The purpose of this award is to facilitate collaborations involving a diverse team of investigators, directed toward developing treatment options for childhood medulloblastoma. This is a $100,000 grant from Carson Leslie Foundation and #cureMEdullo, with Conquer Cancer serving as the lead organization for grant administration. Letters of Intent are due September 29, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

2023 ASCO-SEP® Digital Subscription

The most recent update of ASCO’s Medical Oncology Self-Evaluation Program (ASCO-SEP®) is now available! The 12-month digital subscription includes full access to 22 peer-reviewed and evidence-based chapters that include timely updates, guidelines, drug approvals, and treatment algorithms; the Question Bank with over 1,000 routinely updated multiple-choice questions, rationales, and references available in two new exam formats; plus a new and improved eBook format that allows chapter printing, offline access, and additional learning features including bookmarks, highlights, and notes.

Leadership Development Program (LDP)

Participants in this year-long program will learn valuable leadership skills, network with and receive mentorship from ASCO leaders, and gain exposure to the roles and mission of ASCO. In addition, participants learn about the Society’s powerful role in developing the future of cancer care. Applications are due September 24, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

ASCO/NBME Item Writing Workshop

ASCO will be hosting a FREE virtual item writing workshop led by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 1:00 PM–3:30 PM (ET) for oncologists who are new to item (question) writing for low-stakes exams. Applications are due November 2, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

Education Scholars Program (ESP)

Become a leader in medical education through the year-long ESP. Participants will master learning science and learning theory and have the opportunity to develop ASCO Education content. Plus, they will undergo leadership skills training and gain the opportunity to further medical education at ASCO and beyond. Applications are due November 19, 2023, by 11:59 PM (ET).

Medical Student Rotation for Underrepresented Populations (MSR)

The MSR provides financial support for U.S. medical students from populations underrepresented in medicine (UIM) who are interested in oncology as a career to experience a minimum four-week clinical or clinical research rotation. Applications are open in October, but you can start preparing now!

ASCO’s Quality Training Program (QTP)

Participate in this interactive six-month program that helps oncology practices take on a quality improvement project while receiving expert guidance from ASCO coaches. Coaches help each team identify an area for improvement at their institution and then guide them through the quality improvement process. QTP engages medical and non-medical staff members in the process and encourages collaboration between teams. Learn more and apply!
