A new video starring #CECIL, the University of Illinois Cancer Center’s giant inflatable colon, is a reminder that regular screening for colorectal cancer is recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) to begin at age 45. Colorectal Cancer Facts
In Illinois, according to the Illinois Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan, colorectal cancer:
- Is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths
- Incidence and mortality rates are higher in males
- Incidence and mortality rates are highest in Black populations and lowest in Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic populations
