Men in healthcare can enroll in leadership program

A six-month longitudinal leadership program, titled the Inclusive Leadership Lab, is being offered for male leaders in healthcare who want to gain leadership skills to be more inclusive and equitable leaders. Drs. Shikha Jain and John Stewart IV are leading the program for the University of Illinois Cancer Center.

Overseeing the program are Brad Johnson, PhD, and David Smith, PhD, who have led many leadership development courses on the topic and have published two books, “Athena Rising: How and Why Men Should Mentor Women” and “Good Guys: How Men Can Be Better Allies for Women in the Workplace.” Along with being experts in the space of equity and leadership, Smith is a former Navy pilot, and Johnson was formerly commissioned as an officer in the Navy’s Medical Service Corps. Johnson is professor of psychology in the Department of Leadership, Ethics, and Law at the United States Naval Academy, and a faculty associate in the Graduate School of Education at Johns Hopkins University. Smith is associate professor in the College of Leadership and Ethics at the U.S. Naval War College.
