Team UIC Survivorship walked for many who can’t

More than $490,000 was raised at this year’s Walk for Wellness House held on Sunday, May 2, with more than $3,300 of that total amassed by Team UIC Survivorship, captained by Dr. Deborah Manst, an oncogeneralist at the University of Illinois Cancer Center. Walkers participated at Wellness House’s main location in suburban Hinsdale, forest preserves throughout the Chicago area, and Chicago neighborhoods. Team UIC Survivorship walked for about a mile around the UIC medical campus. The annual fundraiser sustains the supportive programming that Wellness House provides for cancer survivors free of charge. The University of Illinois Cancer Center’s survivorship team frequently connects its patients with the organization to provide programs and classes to help meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of cancer patients and their families. “Team UIC Survivorship was thrilled to represent UI Health at the 2021 Walk for Wellness House,” Manst said. “It was a great day to walk for those who often can’t due to cancer.”
