The University of Illinois Cancer Center’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Office hosted “Tea Time Conversations” with early-stage investigators (ESIs) and Cancer Center leadership to discuss career paths, share experiences and collect feedback about how ESIs can be better served.
Cancer Center discussion leaders included Deputy Director VK Gadi, MD, PhD, Associate Director for Career Enhancement and Education Larisa Nonn, PhD, and DEI Associate Director Heather Prendergast, MD. All three are Professors at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago.
About Tea Time Conversations
Leadership and attendees discussed expanding different mentorship programs, and answered inquiries related to funding, networking and career development. The discussion was broken into four categories focused on mentorship, writing, funding and work-life balance.
More of these conversations and engagement opportunities are planned to support ESIs.
