The University of Illinois Cancer Center and the Associate Director for Clinical Research Oana Danciu, MD, are pleased to announce recent leadership appointments.
Cancer Center member John (Sean) Quigley, MD, a hematologist who has designed and led clinical trials addressing new treatments for patients with acute myeloid leukemia, was appointed Clinical Trials Office (CTO) Medical Director. Quigley also serves as institutional Principal Investigator (PI) for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, part of the National Clinical Trials Network sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. Quigley previously served as Chair of the Protocol Review Committee (PRC).
Cancer Center member Ahmad Daher, MD, PhD, a neuro-oncologist, was named Chair of the PRC. He had previously served as Vice-Chair of the PRC and brings scientific expertise in protocol review to the post. The PRC, in cooperation with the UIC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and the Office for the Protection of Research Subjects, provides for scientific review of all UIC cancer-related protocols.
Both Quigley and Daher are also part of the Cancer Center’s Translational Oncology research program and practice at UI Health.
