Why Your Gift Matters

Cancer Center faculty researchers are a great investment. Funding faculty pilot research can yield a 10:1 return on investment as measured by new grants secured.

Where we and our partners, UI Health and its Mile Square Health Center network of Federally Qualified Health Centers have a presence, late-stage cancer incidence rates dropped in Cook County over three decades.

Our Cancer Center education pipeline trains new cancer researchers and clinicians to create a workforce that mirrors the nation’s diversity.

What It Means to Make a Gift

When you make a gift to the University of Illinois Cancer Center, your support has a tremendous impact on cancer research and patient outcomes. With your help, we are committed to ensuring that the research and cancer center activities conducted align with the needs and priorities of community stakeholders including patients, survivors, families, and advocates.

The University of Illinois Cancer Center is the only public, university-based cancer center in Chicago dedicated to the pursuit of health equity and study of cancer disparities. At the Cancer Center we are community-focused and dedicated to eliminating cancer’s clinical and social impact, as well as promoting health equity for all patients.

At the Cancer Center we explore and understand the totality of intersecting issues that trigger cancer – biology, race, ethnicity, gender, age, environment, geography, lifestyle, and socioeconomic status – so that we can discover and individualize approaches to better prevent and treat cancer, as well as ensure long-term wellness after cancer. We call this approach Equitable Precision Oncology.

The generous support of our donors accelerates ongoing work toward our vision to be a national leader in addressing the cancer challenges of the 21st century, reflecting the Cancer Center’s distinct abilities to elucidate and reduce disparities and improve cancer health outcomes for all people.

Whether they’re funding cutting-edge research, spreading awareness, or supporting patient care, donations to the Cancer Center make a difference in patient lives now and for years to come.
