Cervical Cancer Awareness at Flames

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, and the University of Illinois Cancer Center shared information about prevention and screening at the UIC Flames women’s basketball home game January 19.

University of Illinois Cancer Center member Hunter Holt, MD, MAS, a family physician at UI Health, and Rajul Kothari, MD, Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Division at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC, shared information cards about cervical cancer and the importance of HPV vaccination, along with cervical cancer awareness ribbon pins and HPV squishy stress balls.

Holt, whose research focuses on cervical cancer prevention, also was the guest for the halftime interview on ESPN+.

The Cancer Center’s partnership with the Flames is an opportunity to share information about cancer awareness, prevention, screening and clinical trials with our community of students, faculty, staff, their friends and families, and sports fans at games.
