Highlighting the achievements and activities of University of Illinois Cancer Center members, trainees and staff.

The National Cancer Institute Division of Cancer Prevention featured Cancer Center members Lisa Tussing-Humphreys, PhD, MS, RD, and Krista Varady, PhD, as speakers at its meeting “Time-Restricted Eating Research: 2020 PQ2 Grantee Perspectives on Lessons Learned, Gaps, and Opportunities,” held May 19. Both are part of the Cancer Center’s Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) research program and Tussing-Humphreys is the program co-director.


Cancer Center Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement Yamilé Molina, PhD, CPC member Ashley Hughes, PhD, and Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination trainee Nyahne Bergeron, MPH, participated in the Social Networks and Health 2023 workshop at Duke University last week. Molina presented on her grants, Hughes presented a poster, and Bergeron, a doctoral student, was a co-author on some of the work.


Cancer Center Community Engagement and Health Equity (CEHE) Office team members Associate Director Jeanette Santana Gonzalez, MSHRMD, Visiting Research Associate Carolina Bujanda, and Research Specialist Paola Torres, MPH, shared a presentation with Alianza Americas, a national network of migrant-led organizations, about the success of the Cancer Center’s community-based programs and highlighted the importance of bidirectional relationships with community organizations to promote awareness and sustainability of these programs.
