Kathy Tossas-Milligan, director of Catchment Area Research and Data Science at the UI Cancer Center, served as a panelist at the National Healthcare Series: Midwest Real Estate Summit, held today, Sept. 24, at Chicago’s Radisson Blu Aqua hotel. Tossas-Milligan’s panel discussed “Optimizing Wellness: Maximizing Data to Improve Access and the Patient and Provider Experience.”

Tossas-Milligan also gave a presentation at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s Illinois Research Breakfast, held at Chicago’s Mid-America Club. The event’s theme was “Precision Medicine & Biomarkers.”


Robert Winn, MD, director of the UI Cancer Center, and Emily Gibellina, assistant vice chancellor of health affairs, advocacy and government relations at UIC, hosted members of the Illinois Latino Legislative Caucus to discuss the incidence of cancer throughout the state and ways the UI Cancer Center is working to eliminate disparities through its research and advocacy. Among those in attendance were Sens. Martin Sandoval (D-11) and Omar Aquino (D-2) and Rep. Theresa Mah (D-2).
