Video: Giant Inflatable Colon

A new video starring #CECIL, the University of Illinois Cancer Center’s giant inflatable colon, is a reminder that regular screening for colorectal cancer is recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) to begin at age 45. Colorectal cancer is a preventable cancer. Ask your doctor about screening and spread the word that #ScreeningSavesLives.

Colorectal Cancer Facts

In Illinois, according to the Illinois Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan, colorectal cancer:

  • Is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths
  • Incidence and mortality rates are higher in males
  • Incidence and mortality rates are highest in Black populations and lowest in Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic populations
