“Hair and Health: Myths and facts examining cancer and black hair products” is the topic of the upcoming “Dr. In The House with Dr. Terry Mason” segment on WVON 1690 AM on Sunday, Sept. 1, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Scheduled guest is Chris-Tia Donaldson of “Thank God it’s Natural,” a manufacturer of natural hair and skin care products. A breast cancer survivor, Donaldson uses her success in the beauty space to advocate for women experiencing financial difficulties, who are undergoing treatment, to highlight health disparities due to race and socio-economic factors, and to empower women to listen to their bodies through the tgin foundation.
The program is aired the first Sunday of each month. Hosts are Robert Winn, MD, director of the UI Cancer Center, and Karriem Watson, DHSc, MS, MPH, associate director of community outreach and engagement at the UI Cancer Center.
