Vanessa Oddo, PhD, MPH, is  Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition in the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences. She joined UIC in 2020. She is an obesity epidemiologist with expertise in the social determinants of nutrition-related health. Her work uses nutrition science, public health and epidemiologic methods to investigate the distal factors that shape dietary intake and ultimately, contribute to obesity and chronic disease risk. Her work aligns with the University of Illinois Cancer Center Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program’s focus on multilevel factors that contribute to cancer prevention and promotion, including obesity, dietary quality, nutritional status across the lifespan and socio-environmental exposures.
