The lab studies DNA damage and repair as the mechanisms that drive mutagenesis. One aspect of my research investigates repair of DNA double-strand breaks by error-prone non-homologous end joining and processes that direct DNA breaks towards this repair pathway. Another aspect of my research examines the role of lipid peroxidation products in promoting topoisomerase-mediated DNA damage.
