Melissa Martinez Zepeda – In the News

Melissa Martinez Zepeda, a research specialist in the University of Illinois Cancer Center’s Community Engagement and Health Equity Office, was interviewed by the Chicago Tribune on residents in Chicago’s Latino communities being concerned about the state lifting many stay-at-home restrictions due the coronavirus pandemic. State data indicates that Latinos have a higher infection rate than any other racial or ethnic group in Illinois, and both of Zepeda’s parents tested positive for the virus (they have both recovered).
