The University of Illinois Cancer Center will be on hand to share information about colorectal cancer prevention at the final regular season home game of the UIC Flames men’s basketball team on Sunday, March 2. March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
The Cancer Center will have on display an inflatable tabletop model of a colon and distribute colorectal cancer information cards that have details on screening guidelines and options. Cancer Center member and UI Health oncologist Shikha Jain, MD, FACP, who specializes in colorectal cancer, will be available to answer questions from game attendees, as well as discuss colorectal cancer prevention during the halftime interview streamed live on ESPN+.
The Flames tipoff at 2 p.m. on Sunday against Valparaiso at Credit Union 1 Arena, 525 South Racine in Chicago.
The outreach is part of a partnership the Cancer Center has with the Flames. The partnership is an opportunity to share information about cancer awareness, prevention, screening and clinical trials with our community of students, faculty, staff, their friends and families, and sports fans at games.
