Multilevel Optimization of Lifestyle Interventions for Cancer Survivorship
Jean M. Reading, PhD, will present her talk, “Multilevel Optimization of Lifestyle Interventions for Cancer Survivorship,” to University of Illinois Cancer Center members, faculty and staff. She is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-funded T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine and Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Her research leverages insights from the behavioral sciences to develop, implement and optimize digital health interventions addressing diet, physical activity and weight control for a diverse population across the lifespan. Her work cross-cuts areas including obesity, cancer, behavioral medicine and population health. She has worked on several large-scale clinical trials funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the NCI and WW evaluating lifestyle interventions using various technology-based platforms and digital tools to reduce adiposity and enhance physical activity in adults with chronic disease. She is a current recipient of a NCI Clinical Research Loan Repayment Award to develop a model for addressing multilevel barriers to engagement with digital lifestyle interventions among male cancer survivors. She received a BS and MA in Psychology from Penn State University. She completed a PhD in Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and a NCI-funded T32 predoctoral fellowship in Cancer Prevention and Control at the VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center.
