“Food Access and Diet in African American Communities”

FEATURED GUEST:

Angela Odoms-Young, PhD

The U.S. Department of Agriculture defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. More than 37 million Americans, including 11 million children, suffered from food insecurity in 2018, and in 2019, 19% of Black households were food insecure, more than twice the rate of white households, according to the domestic hunger-relief organization Feeding America. To commemorate Minority Health Awareness Month, April’s “Dr. in the House With Dr. Terry Mason” radio program will discuss “Food Access and Diet in African American Communities.”
