Please join us on Saturday, April 10, for the University of Illinois Chicago Colleges Against Cancer Relay For Life virtual event to be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Relay For Life is a community-based fundraising event for the American Cancer Society and many other cancer-related institutions, societies and associations. Each year, more than 5,000 Relay For Life events take place in more than 20 countries.
A highlight of the evening is the lighting of Luminaria – homemade paper lanterns decorated with the names of loved ones. Each Luminaria is dedicated to a person touched by cancer, and the ceremony is accompanied by a moment of silence for those individuals who have succumbed to the disease. Activities such as painting, trivia, and cooking demonstrations will be held, as will presentations conducted by University of Illinois Cancer Center member Dr. Alexandra Naba and cancer survivor Rafael Perez.
