Abstract:
In this seminar, I will first introduce new Bioinformatics Shared Resource at UI Cancer Center. Then, I will present an overview on basic concepts as well as the history of bioinformatics. Specifically, I will introduce some commons bioinformatics methods that are widely adopted in biomedical research. Using miRNA and cancer research as an example, I will also introduce how bioinformatics algorithms and tools are generally developed with the goal of servicing the research community. Finally, I will introduce common bioinformatics resources that are relevant to both basic and translational cancer studies.
