Dr. Pérez-Stable is the Director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He oversees NIMHD’s annual budget to advance the science of minority health and health disparities research. NIMHD conducts and supports research programs to advance knowledge and understanding of health disparities, identify mechanisms to improve minority health and reduce health disparities, and develop effective interventions to reduce health disparities in community and clinical settings. The UI Health Distinguished Scholar Series was launched in 2020 and has grown to include a collaboration between the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Clinical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Quality Officer, and Chief Diversity and Community Health Equity Officer.  The UI Health Distinguished Scholar Series provides an opportunity to learn from healthcare leaders: how they think, why they pursue their vision, and how to apply their insights to improve health.
