University of Illinois Cancer Center member Ardith Doorenbos, PhD, RN, FAAN, will be invested as Nursing Collegiate Professor in the UIC College of Nursing during a ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Doorenbos, who serves as co-leader of the UI Cancer Center’s Cancer and Control Program, is internationally recognized for her contributions to the science of palliative care and pain and symptom management. In addition to her position as professor of biobehavioral health science, Doorenbos serves as director of palliative care at the UI Cancer Center and director of the Palliative Care Training Center. Her research, currently funded at more than $11 million, includes examining paths to minimizing the use of opioids to manage pain. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2018.
