Bin He, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago. He joined UIC in 1998. His laboratory studies virus-host interactions, with a focus on cytokines and inflammation. The focus is on two themes: viral immunity in pathogenesis and oncolytic herpes simplex virus (HSV) in cancer immunotherapy. The objective of research on viral immunity in pathogenesis is to decipher virus and host mechanisms linked to HSV replication or pathogenesis. And, the objective of studying oncolytic HSV in cancer immunotherapy is to uncover attributes of next generation oncolytic HSV amendable for immunotherapy of metastatic disease.
