Engineering the tumor microenvironment on chip for pancreatic and brain cancer research

Bumsoo Han, PhD
Professor of Mechanical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering
Program Leader of Drug Delivery and Molecular Sensing Program
Purdue Institute for Cancer Research, Purdue University
Xiaoping Bao, PhD
Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering
Purdue University School of Chemical Engineering
Meeting ID: 984 8470 5176 | Passcode: 662367

To receive a calendar invitation: RSVP here

Presentation Overview:
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterized by a desmoplastic stroma that facilitates tumor growth/invasion, chemoresistance of pancreatic cancer cells, and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). We are investigating whether the coagulation system in the PDAC TME can be targeted to reprogram PDAC stroma to overcome chemoresistance, drug delivery barriers, and immunosuppressive TME. We are testing this hypothesis using biomimetic microfluidic and animal models with murine PCC/CAF with genetically modified coagulation targets and patient-derived PCC/CAF.
Thank you to Purdue Institute for Cancer Research for hosting this month’s Big Ten CRC Grand Rounds!

Big Ten CRC Grand Rounds are monthly educational events hosted live by our member institutions for our faculty investigators, scientists, fellows, residents, medical students, and clinical research staff. The goal of Big Ten CRC Grand Rounds is to expand awareness, dialogue, and opportunities for collaboration between our member institutions.
