The pair discussed the VOICES of Black Women study led by the ACS. The focus of this study is to better understand cancer and other health conditions among Black women.
Patel is the senior vice president of Population Science at ACS. She oversees a team of approximately 40 research and study operations staff. These multidisciplinary scientists use their research expertise in epidemiology, behavioral science, and implementation and evaluation science to increase the understanding about the causes of cancer and how to improve treatment outcomes after a cancer diagnosis.
Akintonde is an educator, entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, author, blogger and podcast host. With over 30 years of expertise across business, media, diversity, communication and leadership, her education has provided a strong foundation for her work empowering voices and igniting change around the world. Infusing her business advice with the wisdom inherited from her great-grandmother, she weaves tapestries of humor, music, wit and common sense that resonate deeply with audiences around the world.
