WVON: Breast Cancer

Listen to the WVON “Dr. in the House with Dr. Terry Mason” show about improving outcomes in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) for Black patients when the University of Illinois Cancer Center guest on the show was cancer researcher Chinwe Ewenighi-Amankwah, PhD.

TNBC is a highly aggressive and metastatic subtype of breast cancer that causes high mortality in Black Americans, and she is leading a research project to evaluate a predictive and prognostic indicator to improve outcomes in Black patients with TNBC. She has been awarded a pilot grant by the Illinois Cancer Health Equity Research (I-CHER) Center at the Cancer Center and she is part of the lab of Cancer Center Director Jan Kitajewski, PhD.
