Video: Engage to Empower

If you missed the latest Engage to Empower webinar, part of a series hosted by the University of Illinois Cancer Center Office of Faculty Development and Leadership and the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement, you can still watch it at the link below.

The May 7 webinar focused on how our community of cancer researchers (including early-career faculty) can utilize data from the Cancer Center’s Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) surveys (2019, 2021, and 2023) to support first-author publications and generate pilot data for grant applications. These surveys feature robust datasets collected from communities across Cook County.

This video provides an overview of the CHNA datasets and how they can be used to explore key cancer-related topics, including screening behaviors, risk factors and local health priorities. You’ll learn about:

  • Geo-coded neighborhood-level data
  • Information on health trends and burdens across Cook County
  • Locally defined catchment areas
  • Insights to inform research proposals and publications

The CHNA is conducted every two years and is designed to better understand health-related needs in our region. Data collected in collaboration with local community organizations are available in English and Spanish.
