Two new MPI/R01 grants totaling $125,000 will be awarded by the University of Illinois Cancer Center this year. A two-page competitive Letter of Intent (LOI) is due by 3 p.m. on Feb. 25 to be eligible for the awards.
The Cancer Center Pilot Program will foster outstanding new basic, translational and population science-based research at UIC by supporting the development of preliminary data that can be used to launch new National Institutes of Health or other externally-funded peer-reviewed cancer research proposals. It will also enhance interdisciplinary collaboration between investigators that span across the Cancer Center, as well as UIC.
All LOIs will be reviewed by the UI Cancer Center’s associate directors (who have no conflict of interest related to the proposal and/or Principal Investigators (PIs)). Those researchers who submit a LOI will be notified by March 1 if they are invited to submit a full application, which is due by April 4. Notification of the awards will be made by April 15. The earliest anticipated start date is May 1.
