RFA: Team Science Funding Award

The University of Illinois Cancer Center will accept applications on a rolling basis until April 30 for a funding opportunity that promotes the development of team science. The first step is submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI).

The goal of this funding opportunity is to catalyze the submission of cancer-focused multi-project applications (Program Project (P-) or Cooperative Agreement (U-) type grant mechanisms) to the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

Team science has been described as a collaborative and cross-disciplinary approach to scientific inquiry that draws researchers, who otherwise would work independently or as coinvestigators on smaller-scale projects, into collaborative centers and groups.

The award is meant for teams who have a demonstrable history of collaboration and who would use the funds to develop a competitive program project-type grant to submit to NCI within 12 to 18 months of the award.

Funding Details

Each program proposal should have a minimum of three research projects. The overall principal investigator (PI) of the program should be a Cancer Center member.

The award is up to $150,000 for 12 months ($40,000 maximum per project plus $30,000 for shared costs, such as
evaluation, community advisory board or core development, etc.).
