Tuesday, September 9, 2025

You can still listen to the September segment of WVON 1690 AM’s "Dr. in the House with Dr. Terry Mason," when his guests were Cancer Center Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement Yamilé Molina, PhD, Cancer Center Senior Genetic Counselor Vivian Pan, MS, CGC, and UI Health Mile Square Health Center CEO Karriem Watson, DHSc, MS, MPH.
The first Sunday of the month is the Cancer Center and Mile Square segment on WVON, where guests discuss cancer research and care, as well as overall general health care and services provided at UI Health, which includes Mile Square and the Cancer Center. UI Health is UIC's academic health system.
During the September 7 segment, the group discussed the upcoming National Hereditary Cancer Week, September 28 – October 4, and the importance of knowing one’s family history, as well as getting genetic counseling and cancer screenings.
Molina also spoke about the TestMiGenes study, which develops and optimizes best-practice solutions for implementing population-based cancer genetic services in primary care at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), such as Mile Square.
