WVON: BREATHE and Lung Cancer Awareness

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and you can still listen to WVON 1690 AM’s “Dr. in the House with Dr. Terry Mason,” when his guests were University of Illinois Cancer Center member Ameen Salahudeen, MD, PhD, a UI Health oncologist, and Paola Torres, MPH, a Senior Research Specialist in the Cancer Center Office of Community Engagement and Health Equity.
The group discussed the BREATHE project, which includes connecting people with resources and support to stop smoking, and they also shared information about lung health, lung cancer screening and cancer research. Karriem Watson, DHSc, MS, MPH, Executive Director of the UI Health Mile Square Health Center, moderated.
The first Sunday of each month features the Cancer Center and Mile Square segment on WVON, where guests discuss cancer research and care, as well as general healthcare and services provided at UI Health, which includes Mile Square and the Cancer Center. UI Health is UIC's academic health system.
