Two University of Illinois Cancer Center members, Jun Sun, PhD, and Salman Khetani, PhD, are among the six faculty members honored as part of the 2025-2026 University Scholars Program.
Sponsored by the Office of the President, the program honors superior research and teaching, along with great promise for future achievements. The award provides $15,000 a year for three years to enhance their scholarly activities. Both Sun and Khetani are members of the Cancer Center’s Cancer Biology Research Program.

Khetani is the Robert Uyetani Collegiate Professor in the Richard and Loan Hill Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Colleges of Engineering and Medicine at UIC, and Sun is a Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC.
