Researchers in Journal Immunity

UIC researchers, including some University of Illinois Cancer Center members, have discovered that an anti-inflammatory cytokine called IL-10 is critical for preventing lung inflammation and associated diseases like pulmonary fibrosis and bronchiolitis.

The study's lead author is Kiwook Kim, PhD, a member in the Cancer Center's Cancer Biology Research Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, part of UIC.

Among the study coauthors at UIC, those who are Cancer Center members include Teruyuki Sano, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology; Nissim Hay, PhD, Cancer Center Associate Director for Basic Science and Distinguished Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics; and Odile David, MD, MPH, Director of Cytopathology in the Department of Pathology.
