The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) was proud to host the Pharmaceutics Graduate Student Research Meeting (PGSRM) 2025, held in June at the UIC Molecular Biology Research Building. Cancer Center trainee members were pivotal in planning and hosting the meeting, led by co-chairs Chih-Jia Chao and Edidiong Udofa.

This annual event brought together more than 100 graduate students from across the Midwest to present innovative research in pharmaceutics and drug development. There were a total of 10 podium and 52 poster presentations, of which more than 20% were cancer-related research. Special congratulations to Cancer Center trainee award winners: Philana Phan (Zongmin Zhao) — 1st Place Podium Award and Dahee Jung (Steve Seung-Young Lee) — 1st Place Abstract Award.

The Cancer Center served as a Silver sponsor, and the Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) team had a booth to share training information and resources.

This year’s theme, “Advances in Pharmaceutical Sciences: Retrospective Reflections and Future Directions,” inspired engaging presentations, thoughtful dialogue, and multidisciplinary collaboration. PGSRM continues to serve as a vital platform for students to showcase their work, connect with academic and industry leaders, and explore the evolving landscape of pharmaceutical sciences.
