The University of Illinois Cancer Center, UI Health, Mile Square Health Center, and University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry put on another successful annual screening awareness campaign for oral, head and neck cancer.

The weeklong campaign in April, which is Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, served nearly 160 people who took advantage of free screening exams that take about 5 to 10 minutes and can detect early signs of the cancer.

The sites that provided the free screenings, during the week of April 27, were the Mile Square Health Center clinics in Chicago's Back of the Yards and Auburn Gresham neighborhoods, along with the UI Health Specialty Care Building ENT Clinic and the College of Dentistry Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, both on the UIC campus.

The Cancer Center is part of UIC and its academic health enterprise, UI Health, which includes the Mile Square Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, with a network of clinics in Chicago and Rockford.
