University of Illinois Cancer Center members are thought leaders in cancer research and oncology. “In the News” is an occasional feature highlighting recent media appearances.

The Medscape article, "Breast Density Laws Fall Short Raising Additional Screening," featured Cancer Center Deputy Director VK Gadi, MD, PhD, who specializes in breast cancer at UI Health as a medical oncologist, and Yamilé Molina, PhD, MS, MPH, a researcher in the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program, as expert commentators about a study published in JAMA Network Open. They were not involved in the research. 

The study, led by a Penn State College of Medicine researcher, along with  others, evaluated if laws about dense breast notification and insurance coverage are associated with increased use of supplemental ultrasound and MRI imaging in clinical practice.
