University of Illinois Cancer Center member Pamela Ganschow, MD, is a recipient of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago (IOMC) Innovation in Health Care/Health Care Delivery Award for 2026.

The IOMC is an independent organization that brings together health leaders, medical professionals and public health experts from the Chicago region to collaborate on initiatives that improve the health and well-being of communities throughout Chicago, surrounding counties and the State of Illinois. The IOMC fosters the development of medical and public health programs, promotes collaboration across specialties and helps establish high standards of medical care and service.

Ganschow will receive her award at the 2026 IOMC Leadership Awards and Annual Meeting on June 25, from 5 – 8 p.m., in the Grand Ballroom at Maggiano’s Little Italy, located at 516 North Clark, Chicago, IL.

As Director of the Cancer Prevention and Survivorship Clinical Programs at the University of Illinois Cancer Center, Ganschow provides patient-centered care focused on cancer prevention, risk assessment and survivorship at UI Health. She is also a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Her research spans the cancer care continuum, from screening and prevention to diagnosis and survivorship, with a focus on identifying gaps in care, developing best practices and improving access to high-quality services. Her work emphasizes interventions such as patient navigation to reduce disparities in cancer outcomes and advance health equity.

Ganschow was nominated for the award by a fellow UI Health colleague, Ian Jasenof, MD, FACOG, MHA, CPE, in recognition of their collaborative efforts to advance the Oncogeneralist Training Program at Mile Square Health Center.

In conjunction with the award, Ganschow has been invited to present a 90-minute IOMC webinar titled “Advancing Cancer Prevention, Survivorship Care, and Health Equity” in November.
