New Research Program Co-Leader

Surgical oncologist Aslam Ejaz, MD, MPH, a member of the University of Illinois Cancer Center Translational Oncology (TO) Research Program, has been named a program co-leader.

An Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, he joins fellow TO co-leaders Jalees Rehman, MD, Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, and Ajay Rana, PhD,  Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Surgery, all at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC. 

The TO  Program brings together teams of investigators who conduct research along the translational continuum, ranging from mechanistic studies, validation of therapeutic targets and disease biomarkers for cancer therapy and chemoprevention, to clinical trials that explore opportunities for personalized medicine.

Ejaz is Chief of the Surgical Oncology Program at UI Health, and he specializes in the treatment of pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, bile duct cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers.
