The Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium (Big Ten CRC) podcast Bridging the Gap, co-hosted by University of Illinois Cancer Center member Ryan Nguyen, DO, and Coral Omene, MD, PhD, of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, has released its latest episode.

Listen to the July 2025 podcast “Diversity and Health Disparities,” with featured guest Lisa Hayes, Executive Director of Pink-4-Ever Ending Disparities, an organization dedicated to ending breast cancer disparities for Black women through advocacy, education, research and empowerment.

Omene and Nguyen co-chair the Big Ten CRC Health Equity Committee, and Bridging the Gap is the committee podcast. The podcast features conversations with investigators, industry leaders and patient advocates on a wide range of topics related to health equity in clinical trials.

Omene is a medical oncologist dedicated to the care of treating and managing a diverse pool of breast cancer patients. Nguyen is a medical oncologist at UI Health, specializing in the care of patients living with lung cancer and melanoma. The Big Ten CRC  includes the Cancer Center, which is part of the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and UI Health, its academic health system.
