National Cancer Institute (NCI) Director Kimryn Rathmell, MD, PhD, MMHC, will be the featured speaker at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Chicago Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) Annual Lecture.
Registration closes TODAY (September 18) for the lecture to be held September 25. The lecture starts at 1 p.m. in person in the College of Medicine West Tower (CMWT) Room 227 and a Zoom link will be provided for those who wish to attend virtually.
Each year, the MSTP Student Affairs Council invites a distinguished member of the physician-scientist community to speak about medicine, biomedical research and more.
At the lecture, you will learn more about the NCI Director’s career and experience. She specializes in the research and treatment of hereditary kidney cancers. Her work elucidating the molecular underpinnings of renal cell carcinomas and developing translational therapies has yielded over 250 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. She was sworn in as the 17th NCI Director in December 2023. She previously led the Vanderbilt University Medical Center as physician-in-chief and chair of the Department of Medicine. Despite her busy schedule, she continues to find time to educate and train the next generation of physician-scientists.
