Dr. Robert Molokie is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. He has more than 20 years experience caring for veterans at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, where he has been a staff physician, as well as Chief of Primary Care, Assistant Chief of Hematology/Medical Oncology, Chief of Hematology/Medical Oncology.

He has been the local PI for many cooperative group studies. In addition, he cares for patients with sickle cell disease at the University of Illinois at Chicago for more than 20 years with more than 700 adult patients enrolled in their clinic. He has been an investigator on several local as well as multicentered phase I, II and III drug trails in sickle cell disease, as well as oncology. Including being the PI on a phase I study for the use of trifluorperazine in adults with sickle cell disease, and oral decitabine to induce fetal hemoglobin. He is also the co-investigator on two studies investigating pain in sickle cell disease, as well as a MPI on an RO1 investigating chronic pain in sickle cell disease. These studies include basic science work in the transgenic sickle cell mouse model and a clinical study with over 240 subjects enrolled and who are being followed for two years.

He has years of experience working with basic scientists on translational research project. He has been an invited speaker on sickle cell disease throughout the Chicago area and has presented his research at national conferences. He has a longstanding commitment and history of successful collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and substantial clinical and research experience in people with sickle cell disease.

His research is focused on sickle cell disease, epigenetic modification, and also, the mechanisms, evaluation and treatment of pain.
